Well, obviously, I was listening to too much Hot Chelle Rae one night and started thinking about Mercedes on tour and how that would go if she had to leave her boys behind…and this happened. Please read…and review or message me! :)
Excerpt:
“Mercy, we need you in five.”
“Thanks, Nikki,” Mercedes said quietly, giving her assistant a short nod in acknowledgment, and then shifting her apologetic gaze back to the screen where she’d been Skyping with Sam and Cameron. She’d planned to set aside at least an hour to speak to them, but her tight schedule had derailed that plan from the start. The projected hour had been cut to a rushed ten minutes right before her show.
“Baby,” Mercedes began, already wincing at the disappointed quirk of Sam’s lips. “I’m sorry,” she finished weakly.
The frustrated resignation in his green eyes pierced her heart and she swallowed thickly at the sight of them. Their one-year old went on babbling from his place in Sam’s lap, playing with his stuffed Captain America doll, oblivious to the tense mood between his parents.
“Just have a good show,” Sam muttered, barely holding back a roll of his eyes. He mustered up a tight smile for her, but Mercedes had been with him long enough to know it wasn’t genuine. She sighed and looked away from the screen, where Sam had turned his attention from her to Cameron.
All the previous times she’d been on tour, Sam had always had the flexibility in his schedule to join her. Even with her frequent shows and the work he brought along, those months they spent traveling from stop to stop were a bit like an extended vacation to them. The only thing that mattered was that they got to be together. No matter the adventure each new stop provided—and there were many—they had experienced it as one.
Although Mercedes had long ago upgraded from the rickety vans at the start of her career to a pretty swanky tour bus after her first record exploded, she hadn’t wanted to subject Cameron to life on the road—being cooped up in a bus, going from town to town, and struggling to keep any kind of regular schedule. This unfortunately meant that Sam stayed behind as well, as neither of them thought it was a good idea that Cameron be without both of them for three months.
She had thought she was ready for this. When the subject of touring to support her album had come up earlier that year, the three months she would have to go away from her family hadn’t really registered. She even remembered stupidly saying, “It’s only twelve weeks,” the night she came home from her meeting and told Sam about the label’s plans. Sensing her excitement over the opportunity, he’d put on a brave face.

So, I decided to flesh out my head canon a bit—what I see going on with Mercedes and Sam after S3. I have no plans to watch S4 for my head canon is going to be it for me. I decided to share. There will be three or four more parts to this. Leave me a review or a message! :)
Excerpt:
Mercedes breaks it off the day before she leaves for college in Los Angeles. After everything they went through to make it work—after spending another perfect summer together—she says goodbye.
She shields herself with practicality, blaming things like the miles between Los Angeles and Lima, their differing plans for the immediate future, and their age—but, the way her gaze flickers, settling anywhere but his face, and the way she bites her lip to keep it from trembling are telltale signs.
Sam can hear what she isn’t saying. She’s doesn’t want to do this anymore than he does—she’s scared. She should know better than to try and fool him, however. It’s never worked before.
He tells her as much and she flatly denies it, her face screwed up in defensive ire. They just have to be realistic, she tells him—accept the fact that maybe, as much as they love each other, happily ever after just doesn’t encompass them. They’d already tried their hand twice, but if life constantly wanted to propel them in different directions, maybe there was a reason for it.
She tells him she’s saving them from the ultimate heartbreak of watching their relationship deteriorate over time, and implode later on over issues out of their control—conflicting schedules, different interests and goals, and the very real possibility that living apart for so long would change them as people, especially as she went through this life-changing first year being on her own and he forged through his most defining year of high school.
She says he’ll thank her later because this is the best thing.
Sam is pissed. She still doesn’t understand there’s no other option for him—for either of them. They stumbled upon their fates that first prom night and there’s no going back. They know all the ways in which they fit together now. Staying apart will just be another exercise in torture and no one else will ever feel just right.

I don’t think writers should quit fanfiction. Samcedes has some of the best stories out there. Just because glee can’t get their shit together doesn’t mean we should give up on the worlds we’ve created. We put time, effort and thought into our projects. We edit, develop, and work ourselves silly to produce quality fiction. I don’t think you should give up. I’m not giving up because I refuse to believe all the time and effort I’ve put into writing, not to mention the love it has returned to me is all for naught. Don’t we deserve better than that?
I don’t know if I’ll quit altogether but this episode left me with NO motivation to write Samcedes stuff. All I’ve done pretty much throughout the whole episode is laugh and I’m still sitting here laughing at having spent so much time watching this terrible show. And it’s just making me wonder if I want to invest any more time in this show. I know that, as a viewer I definitely don’t, but even as a fic writer, for a pairing that doesn’t even seem to know each other. Lol. I don’t know. I’m probably just bitter and this’ll pass but I’m just not feeling it right now.
Alternative Title: Hahahaha. It’s Glee, so Who Cares if Nothing Makes Any Fucking Sense?
I hope you enjoy! :)
Sam spotted her from across the hall and made his way over to her. He tapped her shoulder lightly and smiled when she turned to face him.
She returned his smile easily and Sam dipped his head lower, poised to kiss her lips in greeting.
Suddenly Mercedes backed away, putting a hand on Sam’s chest to stop his action.
“Who are you?” she asked him, eyes wide, regarding him like he was crazy. “We don’t even know each other!”
Seconds later she was backing away from him, hightailing it in the other direction.
Sam chuckled then, realizing she was right. He didn’t even know her. What the hell was he even doing in Ohio. He didn’t give a fuck about any of these people.
The next day, he packed up his things and returned to his family in Kentucky.
